this side of dreams

Bubble bursts when i was sitting that side of yesterday
somewhere yonder this side of those dreams of happiness and khaki fields
blue with the spreading of highveld dust
thousands of bones powdered over mellenia, thousands of bones in the atmosphere,
thousands of ancestral voices layed to rest in the sun only by embracing the rain
that afternoon respite that wets us thankful like fishes,
but here its all deep sea, bottom feeders on the belly of the universal ocean
clouds noiseless buffers between the dark pin pricked yonder and the dark electric streets of
four o'clock england night...
nothing less likely to fly than an aeroplane...
...and i break steel wings and fasten them shoulder size with
band-aids and in the morning you won't see the scars and there's no need to share,
plenty of planes for everyone
and we'll be flights of steel angels and angels fly south for the winter and tiptoe
round the planet tightroping the equator
